The Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for the preparation and compilation of quarterly and year end working papers supporting external client financial statements.  This includes drafting year end notes to the financial statements and the supporting documentation for those notes.  This individual also directly liaisons with client auditors to fulfill requests during interim and final year end visits.  

The Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting also aids in the budget and forecast process, reviewing property budgets for accuracy.  There are also a significant number of ad hoc requests directly from the client and senior portfolio teams which this individual fulfills.


• Prepare, analyze and review monthly and quarterly reporting.  Property reporting includes extensive review of leasing, returns, capex programs, Net operating income, etc.
• Prepare and review audit working papers as required.
• Prepare and research draft notes to the audite  financial statements.
• Liaise with Portfolio, Asset Management and Finance teams across the country.
• Account for significant accounting transactions relating to acquisitions, dispositions, and developments.
• Monitor the receipt of property budgets from the regional accounting offices, and validate key financial indicators as received.
• Analyze incoming budgets and forecasts for completeness, errors and omissions.
• Budget and forecast ad hoc requests, as needed.
• Prepare and analyze reports for annual general meeting as required.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Completion of a professional accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA), minimum two-four years job-related experience.
• Working knowledge and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage change effectively.
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Experience with preparing or reviewing audit working papers is an asset.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel.
• High energy, entrepreneurial attitude.
