GWL Realty Advisors’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Statement embodies our approach to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. We will continue to operate in a manner that is respectful of the environment and supportive of the communities in which we live and work. Environmental Sustainability
Within our offices, GWL Realty Advisors' employees will endeavour to reduce our impact on the environment, whenever possible, by:
Conserving Natural Resources
• Using electricity and supplies efficiently.
• Rethinking habits to decrease consumption.
• Implementing sustainable leasehold improvements and renovations.
Increasing our Recycling Efforts
• Participating in recycling programs.
• Incorporating recycling into our construction and demolition projects.
• Encouraging tenants and residents to increase recycling efforts.
Educating & Partnerships
• Promoting environmental training and awareness.
• Utilizing the strength of our national platform to educate stakeholders.
• Influencing and educating the industry on environmental and social responsibilities.
• Partnering with suppliers and contractors who are environmentally conscious.
On behalf of, and in partnership with, our clients, our objective is to embed environmental stewardship in our relationships with tenants, residents, service providers and contractors. The essence of our commitment is vested in GWL Realty Advisors' Environmental Commitment and Occupational Health and Safety Program Statement.
Social Responsibility
Within our communities, our goal is to be an active member, seeking to:
- Promote responsible contracting practices by engaging contractors and service providers who pay prevailing wages and benefits and which agree that they will not sub-contract without GWL Realty Advisors' prior written consent; our philosophy, in this regard, is that fair working conditions promote quality of service and products consistent with the expectations of our stakeholders.
- Give generously of our time and resources to organizations seeking to improve the circumstances and opportunities of others.
- Participate in real estate based industry organizations, particularly those that are advancing best practices and techniques.
Future Initiatives
We are researching and considering for future implementation initiatives that will:
- Measure and manage GWL Realty Advisors’ corporate footprint via a third party advisor.
- Introduce new technologies and practices to minimize paper usage.
- Encourage the use of public transportation for employees.
- Investigate marketing new services that extend from our sustainable efforts.

Monitoring & Reporting
GWL Realty Advisors will demonstrate and monitor its commitment by annually reporting examples of new programs, goals, successes and lessons learned.
The foundation of our CSR is embodied by the commitment and actions of our people and their dedication to making a difference. Our CSR Statement represents our on-going commitment to leading standards and our ability to exceed expectations.
CSR In Action
- Strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity – sponsored 8 townhouses in Canada and staff have volunteered personal time to build homes.
- Our giving extends to regional food banks, David Suzuki Foundation, hospitals, the United Way and other charities.
- In the properties that we manage, each year our environmental programs expand and improve to increase diversion rates and administer more effective waste and recycling programs.
