Paul Finkbeiner
President


Paul is responsible for the overall management and growth of the company's real estate portfolio, including strategic direction, business development, asset and property management and specialized real estate advisory services to pension funds and institutional clients.  Paul joined GWL Realty Advisors in 1995, and under his leadership the company has achieved significant growth of over $11 billion in assets under management, making it one of Canada's largest real estate organizations managing office, industrial, retail and multi-residential space.


Paul holds both a Bachelor and a Master of Applied Science from Queen's University and also holds a Master of Business Administration from McGill University.

   

Ralf Dost
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer


Ralf oversees all aspects of GWL Realty Advisors' finance and administration functions and key strategic initiatives. Upon joining GWL Realty Advisors in May 2000, Ralf assumed responsibility for portfolio management activities for both the Great-West Life and London Life sponsored real estate segregated funds as well as a number of separate account investment programs.


Ralf has over 25 years of real estate industry experience, including 11 years with CIBC Development Corporation, in a number of roles including that of Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  Prior to CIBC Development Corporation, he spent eight years with the Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited in a number of senior finance roles in both Canada and the United States.


Ralf has completed a Professional Accounting Designation.

   

William Briscoe
Executive Vice President, Investments


William leads a national team of professionals responsible for acquisition and disposition activities in all asset classes. He is a member of both the Investment and Executive Committees, participating in strategic planning for GWL Realty Advisors. He has been directly involved in over $7 billion of real estate transactions on behalf of our clients. William joined GWL Realty Advisors in Calgary in 1996 where he took an active role in various aspects of growth within the company. In July 2001 he assumed the role of Regional Vice President in Vancouver with overall responsibility of this $1 billion portfolio. William's duties included strategic planning and establishing growth objectives as well as providing leadership and direction to the regional asset management and property management teams. William has over 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Prior to joining GWL Realty Advisors in 1996 he worked with Avison Young specializing in investment sales. He also has experience in the mortgage brokerage business.


William holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the University of Calgary.

   

James Midwinter
Executive Vice President, Development


James is responsible for GWL Realty Advisors' national development activities. James provides guidance and leadership to the regional development teams located across the country, enabling GWL Realty Advisors to react quickly to changing market opportunities. Since 2005, this has encompassed 34 offices, industrial and multi-family projects totaling 6.9 million sq ft. Since joining the company in 1998, James has held numerous senior positions, most recently Executive Vice-President of Commercial Properties.


James holds an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree (Urban and Regional Planning) from the University of Waterloo and an M.B.A from the University of Ottawa.

   

Don Harrison
Senior Vice President, Asset Management


Don is responsible for the overall leadership and management of a 30 million square foot, $5.5 billion commercial real estate portfolio in British Columbia, Alberta, the Prairies, Ottawa, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Don has held several executive roles in asset management and development since joining GWL Realty Advisors in Toronto in 2000 and relocating to Vancouver in 2004. He is also a member of the company's Executive, Investment and Compensation Committees.


Don holds an Honours degree in Political Science from Carleton University.

   

Susan L. MacLaurin, C.F.A.
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management


Susan is primarily responsible for the overall performance and prudent management of a major pension fund client and carrying out various corporate initiatives. Susan received her Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Bryn Mawr College, a M.B.A. from the University of Toronto, and a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

   

Michael Snell
Senior Vice President, Eastern Canada Region


Michael as the overall responsibility for asset management, property management, leasing and development of a $3.6 billion portfolio, consisting of 21 million square feet of commercial, industrial and retail assets and an additional 1.6 million square feet of potential developments. Since joining in 1994, he has previously been responsible for directing GWL Realty Advisors' leasing group in the Greater Toronto Area and has also been involved with approximately 2.7 million square feet of commercial and industrial development activity in Eastern Canada. Michael has 15 years of real estate experience, including 4 years in construction and leasing with a local development company.


Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts (Business Administration) from Oswego State University, New York.

   

Tom Sullivan
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management & Finance


Tom is responsible for the portfolio management/client servicing for third-party clients, including the company's largest institutional investor. His role further extends to overseeing various company-wide finance and corporate governance practices. During this tenure with the company, Tom has held a number of senior positions.


Tom holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Manitoba and has a Certified General Accountant Designation (FCGA).

   

David Dalen, P. Eng
Vice President, Development


David is responsible for the successful planning and execution of land development and building development projects in Alberta. David came to GWL Realty Advisors as Director of Development in 2006 with more than 20 years of experience in the construction and development industry.


David is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta.

   

Maureen Flanigan
Vice President, Asset Management


Maureen has the overall responsibility for asset management and leasing for the downtown Toronto region and has an active role in the region's development platform. Prior to this role, Maureen was Vice President for the National Capital Region overseeing all aspects of the region's office and industrial portfolio. Prior to joining GWL Realty Advisors, Maureen held various senior positions with local and national real estate firms.


Maureen has 26 years of commercial real estate experience including asset management, leasing, property management and development.

   

Jeff V. Fleming, C.F.A.
Vice President, Investments


Jeff identifies and assesses investment opportunities in Western Canada, directs and manages the underwriting of property acquisitions and works with Portfolio and Asset Management in managing the growth of client portfolios. Prior to his current role, Jeff served in senior management roles in the Company, most recently as Senior Director, Investments in Calgary. A Chartered Financial Analyst with 15 years of industry experience.


Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University.

   

Jeffrey R. Hyde
Vice President, Development


Jeff oversees the activities of the Prairie Region Development Group and is responsible for identifying, assessing, underwriting, planning and executing development opportunities within the region. Prior to his current position, Jeff was Director of Development and Asset Management, Prairie Region.


Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree from the University of Calgary.

   

Rob Kavanagh
Vice President, Asset Management, British Columbia Region


Rob oversees the business operations for the region which includes the asset management, leasing and property management for the office, industrial and retail portfolio. Rob joined the company in 2001 and during his tenure he has held several key roles in asset management and development in British Columbia and Ottawa.


Rob has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, a M.B.A. from McGill University, and is an A.A.C.I with the Appraisal Institute of Canada.

   

Gary E. Lee
Vice President, Multi-Residential


Gary is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the company's national multi-residential and senior housing portfolio. Gary provides direction to the company's asset management team and property management group, Vertica Resident Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GWL Realty Advisors. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction, executing on value-add initiatives and delivering effective property management services.


Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree and has a M.Sc. in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University.

   

Peter MacHardy
Vice President, Property Management, Western Canada


Peter is responsible for all facets of property management for the company's Western Canadian portfolio including British Columbia, Alberta and the Prairies. Since joining the company in 1999, Peter has held various key director roles. Peter has over 25 years of property management experience and is a licensed Master Electrician. Peter is also Environmental Officer for GWL Realty Advisors.

   

Steven Marino
Vice President, Investments


Steven is responsible for the origination and execution of client investment activities in Eastern Canada across the office, industrial, multi-residential and land asset classes. Prior to his current role, he held management positions within the asset management and investment departments. He has 14 years of industry experience.


Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies (Honours) from the University of Toronto and a M.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University.

   

Mervin McCoubrey
Vice President, Development, Eastern Canada


Mervin has overall responsibility for commercial development activity in Eastern Canada. He is responsible for identifying and securing new development opportunities and ensuring the successful planning and execution of all development and construction projects. Prior to his current role, he has held various senior positions within the Company.


Mervin holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Bishop's University.

   

Kevin Nicholson
Vice-President, Finance & Administration


Kevin oversees the Winnipeg and Regional Finance and Accounting activities for the company's entire real estate portfolio. In addition to directing the financial, budgeting and property accounting functions, he is also responsible for the firm's corporate financial activities, forecasting and financial reporting.


Kevin studied Business Administration at Red River College in Winnipeg and has a Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation.

   

Tanyss Price
Vice President, Investments


Tanyss is responsible for managing our investment process and plays a significant role in corporate valuations, new deal structures and new client funds. Tanyss joined GWL Realty Advisors in 2003 as Vice President, Portfolio Management, where she managed the London Life Real Estate Fund, and was also responsible for managing and growing selected direct investment accounts. Prior to joining GWL Realty Advisors, she held positions with GE Real Estate, Ernst & Young in Budapest, Hungary and Erste Bank in London, England.


Tanyss has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant.

   

David Rose
Vice President, Portfolio Management


David is responsible for the overall performance of the Canadian Real Estate Investment Fund (CREIF No. 1), Canada's largest segregated real estate fund, and the London Life real estate fund. David's role extends to reporting on the Fund's performance to existing clients and marketing the Fund to new clients. Prior to his current position, he was Director, Portfolio Management and Research.


David holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and a M.B.A. from Queen's University.

   

Pascale Roy
Vice President, Asset Management


Pascale has overall responsibility for asset management, property management and leasing in Ottawa, Quebec and Atlantic provinces. Her responsibilities also extend to participation in the acquisition and disposition processes within this portfolio. Since joining the company as Director in 2004, Pascale has held key, progressive roles.


Pascale holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from HEC Montréal.

   

Mara-Lee K. Statham, C.A.
Vice President, Finance


Mara-Lee directs the accounting and finance functions for the company's third party clients, ensures a sound corporate governance environment and oversees the GWL Realty Advisors' Treasury and Audit functions. A member of the Finance Committee, she has held senior management roles with GWL Realty Advisors, most recently as Senior Director, Finance & Treasury.


Mara-Lee received her Chartered Accountant Designation in 1993, and has completed the Queen's University Leadership Program and the Management Development Program at the University of Manitoba where she also received her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours).

   

Ian M. Stewart
Vice President, Property Management


Ian oversees GWL Realty Advisors' managed portfolio in Eastern Canada and is responsible for property management staff, establishing best-in-class systems, policies and procedures and a service excellence culture and standards. Ian previously held the position of Vice President, Property Management for both CB Richard Ellis and O&Y REIT. He is the current Past Chairman of BOMA Canada and a Past President of BOMA Toronto.

   

Scott T. Taylor
Vice President, Asset Management, Prairie Region


Scott is responsible for this regional portfolio consisting of approximately 13 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg. He was Director, Acquisitions, Prairie Region, prior to his current role.


Scott received his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Alberta and a M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.

   

Michele Walkau
Vice President, Corporate Resources


Michele joined the company in 2004 to build a human resources and communications team and was promoted to an expanded position in July 2007. In this role, Michele leads GWL Realty Advisors' human resources, marketing and communications functions. Before joining GWL Realty Advisors, Michele was Manager, Organizational Development at Brookfield Properties Corporation.


Michele holds a Masters of Science in Education and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.

   

Glenn Way
Vice President, Suburban Toronto


Glenn has overall responsibility for asset management, property management and leasing of a 15 million square foot portfolio consisting of both office and industrial assets along with approximately 60 acres of potential development land in Suburban Toronto. Glenn joined GWL Realty Advisors in 2000 and prior to his current role, he served as Vice President, Leasing. He was previously employed with the Cadillac Fairview Corporation and has over 12 years of industry experience.


Glenn holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree (Real Estate Management) from the University of Guelph.
